The key to this project was the resist the urge to use modern technique to clean and enhance the production sound.
The client took the leap of faith by recording on film, the last thing you’d want to do is use techniques from another era to create disharmony, so great care was taken to keep things neutral where possible, and to darken elements with emulations of vintage hardware.
You can hear this if you toggle between the audio streams and listen to how the brightness/brilliance in the raw dialogue is rolled-off and darkened.
This muted feel is in line with workflows of the time.
